Yard waste, brush and slash

Brush, slash and yard waste removal on the Colorado Springs foothills

The mitigation pile on the Black Forest lot. The scrub oak cut back from the Broadmoor hillside. The dead pine the arborist dropped and left. We haul it, and we haul the old fence boards and the lumber stack the inspector pointed at while we're there.

On the west and north edges of this city, clearing brush away from the house is not landscaping, it is a seasonal job with a reason behind it. The Front Range foothills carry real wildfire exposure, and the recognised work is to cut back scrub oak, ladder fuels and dead material from the structure and to get rid of stored combustibles near it: the lumber pile against the garage, the old fence sections behind the shed, the firewood stacked under the deck. We take all of it. We do not do the cutting on standing trees, and we do not claim any programme, certification or grant; we are the truck that makes the pile disappear.

The rest of the year the same truck takes ordinary yard waste: storm-broken limbs after a spring snow, a hedge that came out, sod and soil from a patio project, the dead Christmas tree in March, and the rock the previous owner thought was a good idea.

How brush is priced

Brush is bulky but light, so it is priced mostly by volume, and a crew can compress a lot of branches into a truck. Soil, sod, rock and wet logs are heavy and priced by weight. If a pile has both, the crew loads them so the heavy material is honest and the light material is cheap. Tell us if the arborist has already chipped; chips are easy, whole limbs are slower.

Access

Mountain lots change the job. A pile at the end of a long gravel drive in Black Forest or up a switchback above Manitou may need the crew to carry or to use a smaller vehicle. The look is free, and that is when the route gets worked out.

What the price covers

The pile

Branches, scrub oak, dead pine, hedge cuttings and the stored lumber and fence boards that go with a mitigation clear-out.

Volume versus weight

Brush priced by the truck, soil, sod, rock and logs by weight. Mixed piles loaded so each is charged honestly.

The lot after

Raked where the pile sat. Smaller debris bagged if you want it.

What we don't do

Felling or pruning standing trees, and no claims about programmes or certifications. We are the haul.

Questions about yard waste, brush and slash

Do you cut the trees?

No. An arborist or tree service does the cutting; we take the pile they leave. If you need both, book the cut first and us for the day after.

Is mitigation debris different from yard waste?

Only in why it exists. It rides the same way and costs the same. What differs is that the stored lumber and fence boards usually go at the same time, and we take those too.

Can you take rock and dirt?

Yes, as heavy debris by weight. A few wheelbarrows is cheap; a landscape bed's worth adds up, and we tell you which it is.

Do you take pine needles and leaves?

Bagged, yes. Loose, we rake and bag them for you at a small cost.

Will you come up to Woodland Park?

Yes. The mountain lots up Ute Pass are a regular run, with the winter road in mind.

Can you take the firewood under the deck?

Yes. It's exactly the kind of stored combustible a mitigation clear-out is meant to move.
