Garage, basement and storage unit cleanouts in Colorado Springs

The car has not been inside since the last snow. The basement is where the last three moves went to die. The storage unit has cost more than its contents since 2022. We empty the space, sort it with you, haul the rest and sweep.

A cleanout is not a pickup. It is a half day, sometimes a day, of two people working a space with you standing at the door saying keep, donate, dump. That is why we don't quote it from a photo: a packed two-car garage can be a full truck of light cardboard and old camping gear, or a truck and a half of paint cans, concrete pavers and a dead riding mower. The crew looks, names the price for the whole job, and the work starts when you say yes.

The published cost guides we use do not give a reliable figure for garage cleanouts as a separate job, so we price them the plain way: by how much of the truck you fill and how heavy it is, using the load table below, plus the time it takes to sort. A one-car garage is usually around half a truck. A two-car garage packed to the walls is a full truck, sometimes two trips.

How the sort works

Before anything is loaded the crew walks the space with you and makes three zones on the driveway: keep, donate, dump. Keep goes back in, neatly. Donate is anything usable, routed to donation or recycling where possible, which also keeps your tipping fee down. Dump is the rest. The things that cannot ride with us at all, paint, solvents, oil, propane, pesticides, are set to one side with a note on where they can go; see the what-we-take guide.

Storage units

A storage unit is the easiest cleanout we do and the one people put off longest. Meet the crew at the facility with the key, or give the facility permission to let us in, and the unit is empty and swept in an hour or two. Most of the self-storage in town sits along the Powers corridor and Academy, and we are near one or the other most days. Tell the facility you are vacating so the next month's rent stops.

Basements and attics

A basement cleanout adds the stairs; an attic adds the ladder and the dust. Both are priced after a look. Walk-out basements on the west side are often easier than they look, because the crew can bring the truck to the lower level.

What the price covers

The sort

Three zones on the driveway, you decide, the crew carries. Nothing goes on the truck that you wanted to keep.

Donation routing

Tools, bikes, furniture and building material that still work are routed to donation or recycling where possible.

The haul

Loaded by weight class: metal to scrap, light junk to the landfill, heavy debris priced as such.

Swept clean

The floor is swept and the keep pile stacked back the way you want it. A storage unit is left broom-clean for the walkthrough.

Questions about garage and basement cleanouts

Do I have to sort before you come?

No. Sorting with you there is the job. If you'd rather sort first and just have the dump pile hauled, that's a pickup and it's cheaper.

What about paint cans and chemicals?

We can't take them. Paint, solvents, oil, pesticides, propane and pool chemicals need a hazardous-waste route. The crew sets them aside and tells you where they can go.

Can you clear a storage unit without me there?

Yes, if the facility lets us in and you approve the price by text. Many people do it that way from out of state.

How long does a two-car garage take?

Half a day for most, a full day if it's dense and heavy. We give you a time estimate with the price.

Will you take the old lawnmower and the gas?

The mower, yes. Drain the gas first or we drain it on site; gasoline can't ride in the truck in a can.

Can you move the keep pile back in?

Yes. Stacked, labeled if you've got a marker, and off the floor if you want the car back in that night.
